My name is Samantha Laws.  This is my 28th year in education and I have been blessed throughout my journey!  I have taught a 2nd/3rd multi-age classroom, a 4th/5th multi-age classroom, as well as 5th grade for many of my 28 years!  I was an Assistant Principal in Union County Public Schools (NC) before joining the Hickory Public School team as a Literacy Coach for the 2011-2012 school year.  Over the course of my twelve years in HPS my role has shifted and evolved into my current position as a Teacher Leadership Specialist here at Oakwood Elementary.  I am also currently one of five Master Literacy Trainers for the HPS district.  I am proud to represent our district in this role!  I love being able to be a resource for teachers!  I also truly enjoy getting to know all the students, families, and the community! 
    My husband and I were married in 2011. I have two wonderful stepsons.  We have four amazing animals:   2 dogs (Cooper and Oreo pictured below) and 2 cats that we love dearly.  We very much enjoy spending time together with our families, being outdoors and camping, and of course...I love to read!
